| President's Corner...
Erika Lyon ANREP President 2024 |
|
|
Happy Fall, Y'all! (or at least we're getting close).
As autumn approaches, it's time for ANREP elections! You'll soon receive ballots for board positions, if you haven't already. This year's general election includes President Elect and Treasurer roles. Members in the north central and northeast regions will also see nominations for regional representatives on their ballots. We have an excellent slate of qualified candidates, so please make sure to cast your vote!
We're also seeking an ANREP member to serve as Awards Committee Chair. This role involves:
- Creating awards applications
- Recruiting judges to review submissions
-
Presenting recommendations to the Executive Committee
- Providing synopses for conferences and the ANREP website
This position is an excellent addition to your CV or promotion applications!
If you're unsure about serving but have questions, don't hesitate to reach out to any executive committee member or committee chair. Consider taking on a leadership role in the future!
Enjoy the upcoming fall foliage!
Best regards,
Erika

| A new national ANREP Initiative! |
One of the best things about the ANREP conference is how it brings practitioners together to discuss mutual goals and gives them the opportunity to kick off national initiatives. The National Extension Native Plant Initiative is one such effort born out of the spring conference. |

Want to co-create a guidebook for prescribed fire for your region? |
Could your state or region benefit from a comprehensive, user-friendly Guidebook for Prescribed Burning? Over six years, a team of us in the South wrote and rewrote and rewrote… the Guidebook for Prescribed Burning in the Southern Region. There is great potential to adapt this book for other regions. |

Innovation in Mass Timber Solutions (IMTS) Conference October 28 -29, 2024
Dorothy and Roy Park Alumni Center 2450 Alumni Dr Raleigh, NC
The Innovation in Mass Timber Solutions (IMTS) is a two-day conference that will gather experts from across industry and academia, to provide an experience that engages participants in the exploration of the development and application of mass timber and cross laminated timber. This conference provides an opportunity to bridge industry and academia to come together to develop a road map for an initiative in innovation in wood education. Featuring a field tour, expert presentations, small group activities, and discussions, IMTS will engage attendees in the exploration of the development and application of mass timber solutions.
During the field tour, participants will watch a demonstration of engineering and mechanical testing of cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels at NC State's Constructed Facilities Lab, visit sites--including JC Raulston Arboretum--with heavy timber construction, and learn about growing timber by visiting a managed forest (Schenck Forest).
This event will cater to the diverse interests of academics, architects and designers, builders, forestry professionals, industry, manufacturers, municipalities, and others.
